in 1966, skipped 1972, continued 1973 though to 1986, then resumed by
Marvel 1992 to 1996. Revived for 2006 onwards.
In February 2019 a fan-produced unofficial annual for 1972 was published by Terraqueous Distributors, followed by an unofficial annual for 1987 in December 2019. In 2020, Terraqueous published 'The Master Annual (2074)' and an unofficial annual for 1989. Fan contributors to the making of these annuals received their own cover variations shown below. In 2021 a fan-produced annual for 1965 was released that was then withdrawn from sale within two weeks due to somebody reporting copyright issues. I was lucky to get a copy though (please do not ask me where from as I am not at liberty to say) and it is a masterpiece, lovingly copyrighted MCMLXIV (1964). In 2023 Terraqueous published an unofficial annual for 1997 with three covers featuring the eighth Doctor, the only Doctor until now who never had an annual (not including the War Doctor of course). In addition, a Facebook page called 'Tardis Tales' (since disappeared) seemingly in denial over the 13th Doctor, had produced eBook annuals for the 12th Doctor for 2019 to 2021 (I have the PDF versions if anyone still wants a copy, they are free! Email me and I'll send for free via WeTransfer). The Doctor Who Companion website has also started producing eBook annuals from 2021 onwards (download links below). The very first official annual (copyrighted 1965 for 1966 - 2nd in the gallery below) originally had a different cover according to a books catalogue from 1965 (see here). The 2022 annual was the first annual that did not show The Doctor on the cover.  =

The
Dr. Who Fannual was a fan-produced 'annual' with original stories and
strips featuring Peter Cushing as the Doctor, based on the two movies,
"Dr Who and the Daleks" in 1965 and "Daleks Invasion
Earth 2150AD" in 1966. The Fannual was published in hardback and
paperback in 2014 by Fannual Distributors with cover variations and
was lovingly copyrighted as MCMLXVI (1966). There was also a non-annual
type cover entitled "Time Travel for the enquiring mind by Grandfather".
I have the lime hardback and the orange paperback in my collection,
couldn't afford anymore.

Years
later, after much planning, a new fannual was published based on U.N.I.T.
from the third Doctor's era. The U.N.I.T. Fannual 1974 was published
in December 2020 by Another World Distributors (via Lulu). The original
release had a red logo. Subsequent printings include a blue, orange
and purple logos.
