Garth
has been a comic strip in the Daily Mirror from 1943 to 1997. It was first
drawn by Steve Dowling, followed by John Allard, Frank Bellamy and finally
Martin Asbury. Despite its long history, very few books were published.
The first book was published in 1946 titled "Man of Mystery"
which I do not have in my collection. Fleetway published two annuals for
1975 and 1976, one standard paperback 'annual-size' and one as a landscape
paperback. There were also two graphic novels published by Titan Books
and one by Daily Mirror Books in 1958 (a double-sided book one side of
which was Garth in "The Last Goddess"). In Australia, Budget
Books published one longer landscape book No 1 implying a series, but
as with a lot of the Budget Books series, a No 2 did not appear. Garth
has appeared as stories in other publications but not books dedicated
to Garth and so are not featured in this gallery.
