Dennis Variants

Back to Design Index

The Dennis modern design postcards had a few variations over the years, some obvious like a title change or border change, and others more subtle like a spelling change or the addition of a bridge. This gallery only reflects what I can highlight from cards in my own collection.
CLEVELAND / TEES-SIDE
Same map, different titles.
HUMBERSIDE / EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE
Same map, different titles. The north part of Humberside became the East Riding of Yorkshire whilst the south part became part of Lincolnshire.
HAMPSHIRE AND THE ISLE OF WIGHT
The card on the left has Bournemouth in Hampshire (note the absence of the tree-lined avenue under the sun), the card on the right has Bournemouth in Dorset as it is today.
LAKE DISTRICT
Same map, with the one on the left having the addition to the title of 'and Lancashire' and showing Cumberland and Westmorland whilst the one on the right shows Cumbria and Lancashire.
LINCOLNSHIRE
Same map, with the two on the right having the addition to the title of 'and South Humberside'. Additionally, the right one shows the Humber bridge whilst the middle one doesn't.
NORTHERN IRELAND
The card on the right was a special Girls Brigade version.
NORTHUMBERLAND
Same map, with the one on the right having the addition to the title of 'Twixt Tyne & Tweed'.
NORTH WALES
The card on the left has 'Caernarvon' and the card on the right has 'Caernarfon' and the addition of Dinas Dinlle (mouse over to zoom).
NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS
Change of title.
SOMERSET
Same map, with the one on the right having the addition to the title of '& Avon'.
SOUTH DEVON
Colour variation. The card on the left is the only Dennis modern card in my collection that has a coloured logo on the reverse (mouse over image to see reverse).
YORKSHIRE COAST
The card on the right has the addition of the Humber Bridge (mouse over to zoom).
