The
Famous Five was a series of twenty one junior adventure novels written
by Enid Blyton (Full list). There were two TV series
based on these books. The first series was produced by Southern TV and
ran for two seasons from 1978 to 1979 and comprised of eighteen of the
stories. All twenty one books were re-published with TV-themed covers.
The second series was produced by Tyne Tees TV and ran for two seasons
from 1995 to 1997 and comprised of all twenty one stories. All the books
were re-published again with TV-themed covers.
In addition to the twenty one original novels by Enid Blyton, French author Claude Voilier wrote a further twenty four novels, eighteen of which were translated into English. These were published under the title of 'The Famous Five' and then re-published under the title 'The Five'. These books are shown in an extended gallery below, though they are not TV-related. There was also an animated TV series in 2008 titled 'Famous Five : On the Case'.  =
