The
Prisoner was an enigmatic drama series starring Patrick McGoohan that
lasted for 17 episodes from 1967 to 1968. Despite its short life, it
has gained cult status and was the inspiration for a re-imagined series
in 2009.
The original series is widely believed to be a spin-off from the earlier "Danger Man" TV series (screened as "Secret Agent" in the US). There were three novels published in both the US by Ace Books and the UK by Dobson Books (no images available) and later reprinted by New English Library Books in the 1980s. Boxtree re-published for the 24th anniversary of the programme.  =
