The
Charmer was a British television drama set in the 1930s starring Nigel
Havers as Ralph Ernest Gorse, a seducing conman, which ran for one season
of six episodes in 1987. It was made by London Weekend Television (LWT)
for ITV and was loosely based on the 1953 novel Mr. Stimpson and Mr.
Gorse by Patrick Hamilton. The original book was republished with a
TV tie-in cover along with a novelisation of the TV series.
