Van
der Valk was a TV detective series from ITV that ran for two seasons
from 1972 to 1973, then a third season in 1977 and finally revived for
two further seasons from 1991 to 1992. The series was based on the Van
der Valk books (but not the plots) of Nicolas Freeling (List
at bottom of gallery). Penguin Books published at least nine of the
eleven books with TV-themed covers, in that each had a small picture
of Barry Foster (who played the title role) at the top of each cover.
