Dark
Shadows was an American gothic soap opera that ran for six seasons from
1966 to 1971, plus two films 'House of Dark Shadows' (1970) and 'Night
of Dark Shadows' (1971). The show depicted the lives of the Collins family
and became hugely popular when vampire Barnabas Collins appeared a year
into its run. Dark Shadows also featured ghosts, werewolves, zombies,
man-made monsters, witches, warlocks, time travel, and a parallel universe.
Thirty two books were published by Paperback Library from 1966 to 1972
in a numbered series and four further books were published at random intervals
(three by Lara Parker who starred in the 1971 film).
The first four books of the original series were issued with 'art' covers
until the character of Barnabas joined the series, and then they were
re-issued with photo covers even though he wasn't in those books.
