Ghostbusters
was a movie franchise that started with a movie released in 1984 by
Columbia Pictures. It is not to be confused with "The Ghost Busters"
live action TV series that ran for one season in 1975 or the animated
"Ghostbusters"
series in 1986 (Both made by Filmation). When making their film, Columbia
Pictures needed to obtain rights to use the name from Filmation. In
1986 The Real Ghostbusters
animated series started which ran for seven seasons to 1991 (featured
on my site in its own gallery). During this time, in 1989, a second
movie was released titled simply "Ghostbusters II".
The franchise was rebooted in 2016 with the movie "Ghostbusters: Answer the Call" featuring all new characters and marketed simply as "Ghostbusters", though any plans for a sequel were abandoned after it made a loss overall. Columbia Pictures instead released a third 'original' Ghostbusters film called "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" in 2021 featuring the original cast from the 1984 and 1989 movies. Several books have been published over the years of both series, though this gallery is limited to those I have in my collection or I know about that I would like for my collection. At the moment I am unaware of any novelization of "Ghostbusters: Afterlife". = In My Collection / = Not in My Collection |
