The Lord of the Rings was a series of three epic fantasy films based on the novel 'The Lord of the Rings' by J. R. R. Tolkien. The films were subtitled 'The Fellowship of the Ring' (2001), 'The Two Towers' (2002), and 'The Return of the King' (2003). The Hobbit was a series of three films based on the prequel novel 'The Hobbit' and were subtitled 'An Unexpected Journey' (2012), 'The Desolation of Smaug' (2013), and 'The Battle of the Five Armies' (2014). All of the Tolkien Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit novels were re-published with movie tie-in covers. In addition there have been other film and TV renditions of Tolkien's work, including a three hour animated movie released in 1978 for which 'The Lord of the Rings' book was republished with a movie tie-in cover.
