I
am an avid collector of UK map postcards and started designing my own
as a hobby, concentrating on the East of England because I felt that
compared to other regions such as the South East and South West, not
enough map postcards existed - and of course, because I live here!
I was inspired by the Lily White map postcards which covered some cities, to start featuring towns and villages that had never had a map postcard done, and the result is "Tony's Postcards". This is not really a commercial venture, I spend time designing them (or sourcing public domain images where the copyright has expired) and then pay to have them printed as proper postcards. I add one to my collection and one to my wall gallery and the rest I try to sell to recover my costs, and yes, make a little bit of money if I can - always useful! Only a fixed number of each design are printed and what's left are offered up for swapping (map postcards wanted) or for sale if no swaps offered. Once they're gone they're gone!
