It
is rather ambitious of me to start any galleries of Peanuts books as there
were so many. Consequently, (for now) I have limited the UK gallery to
the short-lived Knight Books series, the long-lived Coronet Books series
and subsequent publications by Ravette.
Coronet started issuing Peanuts books in 1967 as reprints of the US books published by Fawcett (which in themselves were extracts from a previous issue of books - see Originals Gallery). There were 89 Coronet Peanuts books, and strangely, unlike BC and Wizard of Id, only got the numbering wrong twice! No 42 was issued with '41' on the spine, so that it appeared that there were two No 41s and no No 42, and the title "It's For You Snoopy" was issued as both No 27 and No 28 (with No 27 having a lilac cover) but the correct number was No 28. The Ravette books started in 1988 as a series called "Snoopy Stars" of which there were 21. After a gap of 10 years, Ravette started an ongoing series called "Snoopy Features", some of which were reprints of the "Snoopy Stars" books, mixed in with a few new titles and some re-titled books. Below is a Gallery of all UK Knight, Coronet and Ravette books to date. |
The
unusual feature of these books is that the spine of the book is at the
top and the contents are all landscape. The first two books in 1969 and
1970 had an appropriate cover to match the layout within, but subsequent
books, including the 1970 and 1971 reprints of the first 2 books, did
not. Unusually, the advert on the last page promoted further Peanuts Books
from Coronet !

Coronet
Books started reprinting the earlier books in the same cover format
as the last nine books in the main series. I do not know whether they
succeeded in reprinting them all before their demise.
Thanks to Peter Hall for this information and image. Many thanks to Thom Gray for image contribution. |
